You didn't say which runtime error so I can't say for sure. If you say then I can give you a better answer. If you are on the internet it's propably for your browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer. If you use Mozilla or Firefox then it could be that application or java virtual machine. Backup your favorites or bookmarks. It's always a good policy to have external backups of your personal files as well. Reinstall the software that gives you the runtime error. Reboot then you should be fine. If not then let me know.

First of all let's examine reasons for runtime errors. There could be a confkict with another app, issue with your software, a computer virus, and a memory problem. The two that are most oftenat fault are a virus and memory. If you are running XP you should have at least 512 mb ram. Run your virus scanner and see if it finds anything. Run a check disk and a defrag on your computer. If you have XP try to do a restore. Also since you didn't name the error hereis a site that will give you more info...http://www.computerhope.co/issues/ch000380.htm. Good luck

Or that. That always seems to solve software problems. That's what smart large IT depts. do. Host all the data on the server, don't let anyone install software on the PC. If there is a software problem put the network boot floopy that connects to the Ghost server and Ghost a new image down to the hard drive. About 3-5 minutes later you have a fresh copy of Windows.

If you want to use Norton Ghost at home create a perfect working Windows image (with or without your programs) then ghost it to another hard drive or PC or CDROM, or DVD and anytime you have problems new copy of Windows is 5 minutes away. Just make sure all your personal data is backup up somewhere or else it's lost forever.

Symantec Ghost can restore the OS and programs to a previous time, but that don't fix the applications causing problems. You'll have to see (or writedown) which application cause troubles, uninstall it, restart the computer (just for case) and install it again.

Is this the "A Runtime Error has occurred. Do you wish to Debug?" error? if it is, you can try configuring your Internet explorer settings and follow directions from:

i thik the system file has been corrupted, so does it mean you can't even really turn on your computer and do your work then?

you mihgt need to start in safe mode and find out where the prob is or, reinstall windows, that' would be sure to get rid of this prob :)
