Self abuse

I believe tatooing is a form of self abuse and shows that the individual is in greater need of something that will fill the empty void in their life...but they don't know what that thing is or at least they refuse to recognise it. So, what do they do? They resort to things like self-abuse and the degradation of their bodies. Who agrees with me?

I completely disagree and think your opinion is unfounded and offensive. This subforum is called body ART for a reason, that may be a VERY SMALL MINORITY's reasons for body modification, but most do it simply because they want to. Because they like it. Because they find it visually pleasing. People do it for all sorts of reasons, to generalize about ANYTHING, especially in an insulting way, is just wrong.

Well, I think you both could be right.

You have to admit that some people do do it as a form of self abuse. I have known personally people who hate themselves or have very low self esteem or have arguments with their parents and just get a tatoo for no other reasons than to say 'piss' off their parents or whatever.

But I think most people do it because they like it for one reason or another... Right now, it seem to be a fashion for women to tattoo their back just above the butt area and thinks it's sexy. But in reality, I think men who sees women with such a tattoo instantly think 'ah, a girl i can have sex with'..

So many reasons indeed... here, see if I can list some down:

1. Self Abuse or Low Self Esteem
2. Just to piss of parents or as a form of Rebellion
3. Trend and Fashion
4. Peer Pressure
5. Love
6. Stupidity (like peer pressure)
7. Like it
8. Religious Reasons

the list goes on...

And waaaay more than that. I am totally happy and secure with myself, my friends, my family, my existence as a whole, hate pain and don't want to change anyone's view of me in any way, and I still love tattoos and piercings. Loooove. And think those lower back tattoos are terrible and getting body modifications just because it's trendy is even worse. I like calling them Tramp Stamps.

But yes, everyone has their own reasons and opinions, diversity is grand, blah blah. The OP's opinion still totally offended me, though.

I think you are totally right in calling lower back tatoos 'tramp stamps' Like Hello what are women these days thinking? Any guy who sees a girl with one of those kinds of tattoos he's automatically going to classify her as one of those party hardy, float on the surface of life and she's running the risk of being used for it.

I don't really have a problem with other kinds of body art/modification, but those lower back tattoos just annoy the hell out of me. I'd like to see a guy get one of those. :twisted:

Well, I'd like to think that most guys would just stay away from the chicks with the 'tramp stamps'...and not see them as an opportunity to use them for sex!

get real guys,
girls with tattoos on the lower back are hip, it's called fashion,
but narrow minds with sex on it all the time seems to stereotype this kinda girls to be their bad, naughty, party hardy girls, I know some are, but not all ok

well tatoo is not self abuse its an art okay ............its really hurting sometimes ....it just gives colour and a look

I think tattoos are hot, especially on girls, lol
but, when your grew older and older, chances are you'll start thinking about removing it, and spend money doing it, for a better way out, i think those stick on tattoos are better, just find a real good quality one, and be a bad girl /boy for the night, then wash it off, one of the things you don't want in life is to be committed to something/someone you'll regret in the long run, don't you think so?

but I have heard that the reason those back stamps are so popular is because thats one of the places where you can get a tattoo that won't wrinkle as you get old. :?
