Discovery of chocolates
Christopher Columbus made a mistake of not taking back cocoa beans with him to Spain after his voyage to America. Then in 1520 A.D., history tells that Spanish conquistador Hernando Cortez brought back chests full of cocoa beans, which were mainly a part of treasures. Some 300 years later, Dutch chocolate maker Conrad J. van Houten patented a hydraulic press to remove cocoa butter from the beans and turned the remnants to cocoa powder. Thus, chocolate was discovered.
