Is windows vista a threat to mac os?

Hi guys,
I love the Macs, there's no denial to that. In fact, I have been thinking about switching to one, anytime soon, preferably the MacBookPro of coz, I treasure the mobility.

The thing is, reviewers of Windows Vista are making so much claims in their reviews that Vista will get Apple lovers go green with envy. So, I'm slightly moved by that, by now everyone would know that Macs are not any cheaper than Windows PC, so if I were to invest a fortune on it, which I don't mind coz I Love Macs, and then comes Windows Vista at a much much lower price (PCs are cheaper, and getting it installed with Vista is no big deal, doesn't cost much) that'll make me go green with envy, what am I supposed to do then? It would be very very difficult to love Mac anymore if Vista is as good as reviewed, coz in those reviews, vista really rocks!

So, back to the question, can anyone help me? Unbiased opinions if possible......................

Is Windows Vista a threat to Mac OS?

To answer your question, I need to ask you a question (oooh, how "Karate Kid" of me): Why is Apple switching to Intel chips?

The new chips make it possible to run Windows on a Mac - there are already cutting edge geeks (who live alone with a cat) who have done this.

My prediction: Apple has made a killing in hardware while their OS and software market has dwindled. I think they see the profit in cutting edge hardware like the iPod and will put more and more of their resources into that.

The problem that hardware like the iPod will face is that it might be really cool, but it will be increasingly incapable of talking to the other appliances in your home as Windows moves more and more into running things like home entertainment systems.

The solution for Apple: Dump the software division, teach your hardware to run on Windows and then continue to dazzle consumers with your innovative hardware.

So, buy a Mac, don't buy a Mac - either way, in a few years you will likely be running Windows either way.

Wow, that's a great way of looking at it.
So you're confident that Windows will ultimately win the battle over Mac OS huh. Hmm, Apple recently launched it's new OS, called the Leopard, the one which they claim, can really kick Vista's ass if you know what I mean.

With that, do you still believe in the "Windows will dominate" theory?

Yep, Mac is definitely looking good, but I'm pretty sure windows will always be around, and most likely will still hold the majority of the market for a long long time before Mac could dream of topping off windows, coz, windows is just too huge to top off at the moment, else, apple won't offer a mac that would run windows rite?

ppl might buy a mac, but still use the windows, so, in the end you can't say that mac has won the war can u?

:)

Well no not in alot of eeys mac has not but what we can look at it is the quality and stablity..I guess if you are a person concern with this type of ablities that are out there then you would be saying mac is the better...

One thing that makes microsoft more popular is because of the people behind it ....like a quick buck making and it took off so much and became so popular that the others did not have a chance to keep up. To me this is why they won or think they did....

That is very true my dear
The most brilliant thing Microsoft did was being the first in so many things, not necessarily building or creating the first this and that, but to spot opportunities and be the first to buy it over, things like that, you know what i mean?

in brief, as you've mentioned, microsoft is so huge now coz they've managed to put themselves on top, and forever keeping the position, going higher and higher that it's really difficult for others to play catch up, the more potential ones, well, microsoft just had to offer millions and millions millions to buy em over, merge with microsoft, and whatever they make, it's microsofts's money now, see?
